Certech expertise ranges from materials development (formulation, synthesis, blending...) to transformation and forming processes, allowing to propose a wide variety of technical and scientific support to partners and customers looking for a global expertise in the field of material science.

Following the construction of a new building to accomodate pilote lines in 2010, Certech has significantly increased its processing and analytical capabilities in the field of bioplastics and biocomposites. The addition of new reactive extrusion capabilities allows the surface and the interface modifications of fillers or reinforcements during materials processing.

New developments in the field of light-weight materials have been started and are now supported by the recent acquisition of a polymer physical foaming line.

Certech has also developed an expertise in the field of raw-material substitution for plastics and composites. The objective is to replace different materials which are raising either sustainability or public health issues.

Services include:

  • Preparation of hybrid materials (sol-gel, specialty and multifunctional coatings, zeolites, materials lightning, cellular materials…)
  • Synthesis, modification and formulation of biobased or synthetic thermosets and thermoplastics. Specific examples include wood/plastic composites, nanocomposites, barrier additives for packaging and storage tank, functional additives, formulations of biopolymers…
  • Analysis and reverse engineering: determination of the chemical composition of resins and polymers, characterisation of molecular architectures, analysis of multi-layer materials, contaminant, additives and fillers identification... Certech has more than ten years of experience in this field. The expertise is based on a comprehensive knowledge in material and analytical sciences and on the ability to plan and carry out projects requiring sophisticated investigation techniques.
  • The determination of physical, mechanical, rheological, thermal, morphological, barrier and sensorial properties combined with statistical tools to optimise the experimental and process conditions
