Certech has a gas chromatograph coupled to a mass spectrometer (μGC-MS) for the analysis of gases and volatile organic compounds.
The equipment includes three μ-GC modules and a quadrupole mass spectrometer for identifying compounds. Each of the modules comprises a micro-injector, a chromatographic column and a non-destructive thermal conductivity micro-detector (μ-TCD). The analyser allows the identification by the mass spectrometer detector and quantification with the μ-TCD detector of the constituents of a complex mixture in a concentration range from ppm to %. A specific column for the analysis of O2, N2, Ar, CO, CH4 and H2 gases is included, as well as two columns for the analysis of light and heavier volatile organic compounds. The gaseous sample is analysed simultaneously on the three columns in less than 3 minutes and sequentially by the mass spectrometer for the identification of unknowns.
Typical applications are: biogas analysis, gas impurity search, on-line monitoring of reference compounds, reaction kinetics as well as on-line monitoring of reagents and reaction products in the gas phase after coupling to a catalytic reactor.
